Elizabeth Smalley grew up in the midwest but has lived in California since 1985. A practicing physician, Elizabeth started oil painting almost twenty years ago. She bases many of her paintings on original photographs taken on travels or from the surroundings of everyday life. The artist tries to capture a mood with her work - from lonely contemplation to joyous dancing, from the beauty of a sunset to the grace of a flower unfolding.
